Hagan: Energy, Manufacturing Jobs Can Come to NC PDF Print

“I think advanced manufacturing is the area we will be looking at.  I thing the renewable energy sector is a huge area of new jobs—especially in North Carolina—the only state in the southeast with a renewable energy standard, and that has given us a competitive advantage. And those jobs will not be outsourced.”US Senator Kay Hagan talked energy and manufacturing jobs as she met with the press at the Lois E. Harrill Senior Center yesterday morning, as part of both her North Carolina Back to Work Jobs Tour and “Conversations with Kay.” The Senator expressed her frustrations that some open jobs don’t have qualified workers available, “We need to do training—training for careers—21st century careers, those jobs that are open right now.  We have fourteen million people unemployed in this country, but we’ve got at least three and a half million jobs that can’t be filled right now. We need to make that connection.”
Hagan toured downtown, going to the Art of Oil, Doe Ridge Pottery, and Mast Store, among others, questioning merchants on their own economic issues.
