Watauga Republicans have made their selection to replace Tim Wilson on the fall ballot for County Commissioner in District 1 a week after he withdrew from the race.  At the executive board meeting of the Watauga County Republican Party Thursday night, Perry Yates, (photo; A Watauga Conservative) local building supply businessman, was selected and will face Democrat Virginia Roseman in the fall.  Tim Wilson was at the meeting, according to the blog, A Watauga Conservative, which said Wilson thanked his supporters  and stated that he would support the Watauga County Republicans in the future in any way he could, for which the site says he was roundly applauded. Tim Wilson was involved in two March 8th traffic accidents, with Boone Police saying he left the scene of a wreck with injury—a felony—before being involved in the second crash. He was also charged with a felony of not informing officers of his concealed carry permit and his gun, as required by the concealed carry law.  He withdrew from the race in a letter last Thursday, two weeks after the wrecks.
