The Converse College women's tennis team swept doubles play and won three of four singles matches en route to a 5-1 victory against Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon. Converse's (4-12, 1-8 CC) duo of Olivia Self and Taylor Brand opened the day with a hard-fought
8-6 victory over Lees-McRae's (1-8, 1-5 CC) pairing of Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) and Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), before Raissa Olmos Morandi and Marisa Esformes defeated Kelsey Hiatt (Mt. Airy, N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.), 8-2.
Self kicked off singles play with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 11-9 win against Peagram, before Wohlers rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 victory against Morandi at No. 2 singles. Brand notched a 6-0, 6-1 win against Hiatt, as Esformes defeated Harris, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Friday, March 30 when the Bobcats host Mount Olive College in conference play at 2 p.m.
