The Appalachian State University football team, coming off its best recruiting season in a while, will officially start spring practice the week of March 19. And there will be some familiar faces among those attending those spring drills. Among the returnees will be

linebacker Lanston Tanyi, who missed most of last season for an unspecified university issue, and offensive tackle Kendall Lamb, who was dismissed by coach Jerry Moore for a conduct issue, will rejoin the team this spring.
And the Mountaineers will also welcome back linebacker Justin Wray, who sat out all of last year with a shoulder injury, and running back Rod Chisholm, who was ineligible for academic reasons.
The Mountaineers open the season at East Carolina on Saturday, September 1. ASU was ranked 12th in the final The Sports Network Poll this season. The Mountaineers were eliminated by Maine in the opening round of the Football Championship Sub-Division playoffs.
