Do you know a promising middle school student who would like to attend basketball camp at North Carolina State University or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill?  North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy cooperatives, including Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, are providing scholarships for deserving young men and young women to attend basketball camps on these college campuses. Scholarships will be awarded to 26 deserving young women from across the state to attend the Kellie Harper Women’s Basketball Camp at North Carolina State University and 26 deserving young men to attend the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The Kellie Harper Camp will be held June 24-27 while the Roy Williams Camp is scheduled for June 16-20. The campers will work closely with championship-winning college coaches to develop fundamental skills, helping the young athletes perform and excel both on and off the court.
Rising sixth through eighth graders are eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is March 30. Applicants will be judged on their academics, extra-curricular activities and accompanying essay. Students can pick up an application from their school’s physical education teacher or they can download an application at
The Touchstone Energy Sports Camps program provides a unique educational and athletic opportunity for our state’s youth and demonstrates one of Touchstone Energy’s and Blue Ridge Electric’s core values: commitment to community.
