Two Avery deputies are hospitalized along with an Avery woman after a crash last night on US 221.  Deputies Brett Stockton and Casey Lee were en route to a domestic call, running lights and siren near Crossnore when Stockton pulled left to pass several vehicles just as Kimberly Greene Chapman was turning left onto Greene Road south of Crossnore. SHP Sgt. Goodson said the patrol car struck the driver’s door of Chapman’s red Subaru, both vehicles spinning into the recycling station lot there.  Stockton and Chapman were airlifted by WINGS Air Rescue to Johnson City Medical Center—Chapman in Intensive care.  Casey Lee taken by ambulance to Canon Memorial, and from there was transferred by ambulance to Johnson City Medical Center as well.  Sgt. Goodson said that charges have not been filed, pending completion of the investigation.  Both cars were totaled, but the K-9 officer in the car was not hurt.
