Boone Rotary Club -- Students of the Month Honorees PDF Print

The Rotary Club of Boone honored two Watauga High School seniors, Emily Haas and Rosa Goetz, for their accomplishments. They were named Students of the Month for September and October 2011.
Emily Haas plans to attend a four year institution to major in Restaurant and Hospitality Management and follow it up by attending a culinary school. She demonstrated her talent and aptitude for the restaurant business by competing in both state and national ProStart competitions and won numerous awards for her culinary creations. She is active in sports and a multitude of volunteer activities. Emily is the daughter of Judith Haas and Marshall Gasperson.

Rosa Goetz is active in the Model United Nations Club, currently serving as its president. She is co-president of the National Honors Society and co-editor of The Powder Horn, Watauga High School’s newspaper. She was a member of the German Exchange Program and has traveled to Germany numerous times. She spent a week each in Spain, France, and Italy. One of Rosa’s accomplishments is that she wrote a 60,000 word novel during National Novel Writing Month. Rosa is the daughter of Denise Goetz, ASU Academic Advising, and Dr. Rainer Goetz, Professor of Spanish, ASU Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures. She plans to pursue a four-year degree in Chemistry and Genomics.
