Opera Debuts At Hayes Center Tonight PDF Print

According to Hayes Center Director, Jeff Clark, the Hayes Center will continue to bring in other performances and performers from outside the region. For example, tonight opens a weekend of opera that results from a partnership between the Hayes Center, Blowing Rock Stage Company, and ASU’s Schools of Music, and Theatre and Dance.

The presentation features two works by Gian Carlo Menotti. Hayes Center provides the venue; Blowing Rock Stage Company has provided professional set designers, lighting technicians and costumes. And ASU provides a fourteen-piece orchestra and performing talent. The Medium debuted in 1946 on Broadway as a stage work; unusual for an opera. These will be the first operas ever to be performed at the Hayes Center. Amaya says the company is excited to be expanding beyond the realm of the university. Tonight’s program begins at 7:30pm and runs through the weekend. Pick up tickets by calling the Hayes Center Box Office.
