An armed robbery in Boone—a suspect is in custody. The robbery was at the Bark Mobile Store on West King Street just before 3 this afternoon by a suspect described as a thin white male, around 5’6” tall, wearing blue bandana, black rimmed sun glasses with orange lenses,
and dark—either blue or black baggy pants and a dark, possibly green hoodie. Police say that the woman on duty did not see a weapon, but that a weapon was implied in a robbery note he handed her, and that as the man fled, she locked down the business and called 911. With Watauga deputies joining into the search, deputy Preston Russell located a suspect ear the end of East Glendale Drive off of Tracy Circle—apparently trying to hide the money while the deputy watched. The victim was brought to the scene to try and identify the man, which she did, and he was taken from the scene in a patrol vehicle while an Avery search dog was called in to back-track from the spot where the suspect was arrested to the store to try to find more evidence. The dog managed to find the path, and Boone officers found more evidence from the robbery along the way. Charged is James Daniel Wallace, 30 years old, of Sugar Grove, the count is common law robbery as no weapon was seen, even though James Daniel Wallace was said to have been found with a knife when arrested. Bond was being set late in the day.
