Appalachian State men's soccer player Lee Williams has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. Williams was one of 12 players recognized and the only representative from the Southern Conference.

Williams was a key member of an Appalachian defense that recorded a 1-0 shutout over Coastal Carolina and a 3-0 shutout over Hartwick. The junior also recorded an assist in the victory over Hartwick. For his efforts, Williams was named the Defensive MVP and a member of the all-tournament team at the Coastal Carolina Tournament.
The Mountaineers took first place at last weekend's tournament as the only team to finish 2-0 at the event. The title was the team's second tournament championship in as many weeks.
Appalachian (4-2-1) has now won three straight games and has tied a program-record with four consecutive shutouts, a mark last set in 2007.
The Mountaineers return to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 27 for their next game when they host UNC Asheville at ASU Soccer Stadium at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
