Hemric Resigns as Watauga Superintendent PDF Print

Watauga County, as of today, is in the market for a new school superintendent, that with the resignation yesterday of Dr. Marty Hemric.  Hemric submitted his resignation after being named the new superintendent in Wilkes County—his home county—late last week. Hemric came to Watauga from Wilkes.  He gathered the central office staff at about 3 yesterday afternoon to tell in person his decision to leave Watauga, then sent an email to all teachers and staff at about 4:30.  The Watauga Board of Education will now begin the search and name an interim, with Hemric leaving in December.
