WHS Netters Fall, 9-0 PDF Print

The Watauga High women's tennis team, playing its second match in three days, tasted defeat for the first time this season.

Salisbury defeated WHS 9-0 in a non-conference match Wednesday night. Hannah Petersen and the doubles team of Sarah Petersen and Nicole Fox fell just short of victory. Hannah Petersen lost in straight sets to Katelyn Storey of Salisbury, 6-3, 6-3 at No.2 singles. And the doubles team of Sarah Petersen and Fox dropped an 8-5 decision at No.3 doubles to Sallie Kate Meyerhoeffer and Alexandra Drye.
WHS (2-1) completes its grueling schedule by taking on South Caldwell in its home opener at the Sports Complex Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The Pioneers are 1-0 in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference. They won their league opener Tuesday night in Taylorsville against Alexander Central.
