Wilkes County Softball In LLWS PDF Print

The 11-12 All-Stars of Wilkes County, representing North Carolina, Little League District 7, and the Southeast Region have advanced to the semifinals of the Little League World Series in Portland, Oregon.

Their next game is Tuesday, the 16th at 6:30 pm (9:30 EST) against the representatives from the Southwest, the Midway Little League from Waco, Texas.   The game will be televised on ESPN2.  The winner goes onto play in the Championship game on Wednesday, the 17th against the winner of the Central/Asia-Pacific game.  The Championship game will be aired at 7 pm on Wednesday, again on ESPN2.
The Wilkes girls cruised through their four game pool play with an undefeated record (4-0).  They have been led by pitcher Emily Visnic who has been credited with three wins.  Leading up to the semifinal game, the Wilkes team has defeated the host team Oregon by a score of 13-1,  New City, NY (East) by a score of 4-3, Milano, Italy by a score of 10-1, and Asia-Pacific by a score of 16-1.
The Wilkes All-Stars have been in Portland, Oregon since Tuesday, August 8 in preparation for the World Series opportunity and will return, finishing no less than fourth in this World Championship, on Thursday, the 18th.
