The Watuaga High football team will host a four-team jamboree Friday night at Jack Groce Stadium.

It will be WHS's final tuneup before the Pioneers begins the regular season at home next Friday night, August 19 against A.C. Reynolds at Jack Groce Stadium. Elkin, Mount Airy and Salisbury will join the Pioneers at the jamboree.
The JV get under way at 5 p.m.; the varsity competition begins at 6:30 p.m.
The WHS athletic schedule officially gets under way next week with two games on the slate Monday. The volleyball team entertains Mitchell, the men's soccer teams welcomes Ashe County to town. The soccer team hits the road for a game at Wilkes Central next Wednesday, August 17; Christine Vanard, who takes over the women's tennis program, makes her coaching-debut next Wednesday when the WHS tennis team opens the season in Winston-Salem at Mount Tabor.
Vanard replaces Scott Taylor, who took over on an interim basis last season when Terry Hartley stepped down for personal reasons.
