The Lees-McRae College women’s soccer team is slated to play a challenging schedule this fall, including four opponents that have advanced to the NCAA Tournament at least once over the last two seasons.

The Bobcats return 16 letter-winners and nine starters from last season’s 14-6 squad, which posted the program’s highest win total since 2002 and its first top-four finish in the Conference Carolinas standings since the 2003 campaign. Head Coach Cally Morrill is back at the helm for her second season, and will be joined by a seasoned core of veterans, including 2009 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-American Vickie Rich (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and 2010 all-Conference Carolinas first-team selections Mary Dorn (Shallotte, N.C.) and Brooke Santerre (Port Republic, Md.).

Lees-McRae will kick off the 2011 season on Sep. 2, traveling to Dahlonega, Ga. to open its campaign against North Georgia College & State University for the second year in a row. The Bobcats will then return home, taking the Tate Field pitch for the first time against Tusculum College on Sep. 7 before opening their conference schedule against St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Sep. 10.

The Bobcats will be among the first to welcome both King College (Tenn.) and North Greenville University into the conference, traveling to Bristol, Tenn. to take on King on Sep. 14 before playing host to North Greenville on Sep. 17. Coach Morrill’s squad will then take a break from conference play, traveling to Carson-Newman College on Sep. 19 before hosting Catawba College on Sep. 21.

After traveling to Misenheimer, N.C. for a crucial conference matchup with Pfeiffer University on Sep. 24, the Bobcats will make the journey to Harrogate, Tenn. to take on Lincoln Memorial University on Sep. 27. Lees-McRae then returns home to celebrate homecoming on Oct. 1 against Barton College to resume its conference schedule.

The Bobcats will then enter the stretch run of the regular season, traveling to Spartanburg, S.C. on Oct. 6 to take on Converse College before returning home to host Queens University of Charlotte and Belmont Abbey College on Oct. 8 and 12, respectively. Following a road matchup with Mount Olive College on Oct. 15, the Bobcats will take the pitch at Tate Field for the final time during the regular season on Oct. 19, as Coach Morrill and her squad will honor their seniors prior to kickoff against Erskine College.

Lees-McRae will then close out the regular season on the road, traveling to Coker College on Oct. 22 and Limestone College on Oct. 25 to wrap up its conference slate. The Bobcats then travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to take on Mars Hill College on Oct. 29 ahead of the Conference Carolinas Tournament, which is slated to kick off on Oct. 31. Coach Morrill’s squad is expected to contend for the program’s second conference title and first since 2000.\
