Mayor Loretta Clawson is pleased to announce that the Town of Boone has received the 2011 Marvin Collins Statewide Planning Award for the Boone 2030 Land Use Plan.   Mayor Clawson expressed her appreciation to the members of the Boone Town Council, Town Staff, and the community that worked together to lay the foundation for this plan.   The Lawrence Group, a planning firm located in Davidson, NC, led the collaborative effort to bring this plan to completion.

The Marvin Collins Statewide Planning Award is presented by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association (NCAPA) and recognizes agencies and individuals that have completed outstanding plans, programs and projects, have excelled as planning students, or have made notable contributions to the planning profession.  Mayor Clawson will be accepting the award on behalf of the Town of Boone at an awards luncheon during the 2011 North Carolina Annual Planning Conference in Charlotte on Thursday, October 6, 2011.
