Fatal House Fire in Fleetwood; Fund for Family Set PDF Print
Written by Steve Frank

Ashe firefighters spent much of the night on the scene of a fatal house fire in the Fleetwood area, joined by fire investigators.  Fleetwood was dispatched at about 1 this morning to the Russell Combs Road home off Water Tank Road, and called for back-up departments to help with the fire. As the fire was knocked down, it was determined that someone died in the fire, causing Ashe Sheriff’s Office investigators to be called to the scene at about 2:30am, and one body was found inside the home.  That person—yet unidentified—has been sent to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for an autopsy. The SBI arson team has been called in by the Ashe Fire Marshal, but the Ashe Sheriff’s Office release indicates that no foul play is indicated in their preliminary look at the scene.  Details will come from investigators as the day goes along.  A memorial fund has been established for the family:

Yadkin Valley Bank, Jefferson NC
% MT Olive Baptist Church.
Susan Ham/Summer Poe Treas.
