|LRU Swimming Earns Scholar All-America Honors|

Both the Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Swimming Teams have earned Scholar All-America accolades for the spring semester of 2011.
The College Swimming Coaches Association of America presents the Team Scholar All-America award to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The L-R Men's Swimming Team posted a 3.14 grade point average for the spring semester while women's squad sported a 3.19 GPA.
A total of 49 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming Teams earned the honor while the Bears were one of 15 D-II men's squads with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher this past spring.
The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Teams open the 2011-12 season on Wednesday, October 5, against Campbell at the Shuford Physical Education Center.
The Bears' annual intersquad meet is scheduled for Thursday, October 15.
The women's squad will be beginning its fifth season of intercollegiate competition at Lenoir-Rhyne while the men's team starts its second year this fall. Both squads are under the direction of Paul Schiffel.

Furman University's Paul Scarpa, the winningest Division I tennis coach in America and longest tenured head coach in any sport in Furman and Southern Conference history, has announced his retirement following 45 seasons at the helm of the school's men's tennis program.
