Lenoir-Rhyne University's Brian Dice (Hickory, N.C.) has signed a free agent contract with the Florida Marlins.

Dice will play for the Jupiter (Florida) Marlins of the Gulf Coast League.
The Gulf Coast League is a Rookie League which runs from the middle of June to the end of August.
The league consists of 15 teams with three divisions (East, North and South).  Jupiter is in the East Division.
Dice, who lettered and started all four years for the Bears baseball team (2008-11), was a two-time All-South Atlantic Conference honoree (2010-11) and played both catcher and designated hitter for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Dice also earned North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State accolades for the past two seasons as well.
Dice led the Bears this past spring in runs scored (41), runs batted in (36) and slugging percentage (.497) to go along with a .321 batting average.
As a junior in 2010, Dice was both a First-Team All-SAC pick and an All-Southeast Region honoree after finishing first on the squad in batting average (.435), home runs (16), runs batted in (59) and slugging percentage (.806).
For his Lenoir-Rhyne career, Dice finished with 31 home runs, 160 runs batted in and a .350 batting average.
