|ASU Women To Play In CBI|

The Appalachian State women's basketball team has been invited to play in the inaugural Collegiate Basketball Invitational.The four-team tournament, which features teams from the Big South and Southern Conferences, will be played at UNC-Asheville's newly built Kimmel Arena December 10. ASU and Wofford will represent the SoCon; UNCA and Radford will represent the Big South.
"The Sports Commission is committed to making sports tourism an integral part of our community," stated Ben VanCamp, Executive Director of the Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission. "The Invitational along with the Southern Conference Basketball Championships returning to Asheville are two great basketball events that will have a strong economic impact on our community."
ASU will play UNCA at 4:30 pm on December 10; Radford takes on Wofford in the opening game at 2 pm. The ASU women are coming off their second consecutive 20-win season under fourth-year head coach Darcie Vincent. ASU, which won the regular-season championship in the SoCon last season, lost to Samford in the tournament finals.
The Mountaineers (25-7) played in the Women's National Invitational Tournament, where they lost to South Carolina in the opening round.
