|Crawdads Win Again, 8-1|

The Hickory Crawdads have put together a successful road trip.They're currently 4-1 on their seven-game journey. Saturday night, the Crawdads defeated Delmarva 8-1 in front of 4,977 fans at Perdue Stadium. The Crawdads took an early 2-0 lead by scoring twice in the second inning.
A sacrifice fly by Jhonny Gomez plated the first run; Tomas Telis, who reached on a fielder's choice and advanced all the way to third on a walk to Jake Skole and on Gomez's sacrifice fly, scored when Skole was thrown out trying to steal second base.
The Shorebirds got one back in the bottom of the second to make it 2-1, but the Crawdads picked up some insurance with two more runs in the third. Andrew Clark drove in a run with a ground-rule double and Telis singled home a run for a 4-1 lead. Hickory put the game away with two more runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Clark and Gomez each had three RBI apiece. Telis had two hits and drove in a run; Teodoro Martinez had two hits. the Crawdads outhit the Shorebirds 13-7.
Joe Van Meter got the start, but he only went four innings. Despite his short stint, Van Meter was impressive. He only gave up one earned run on four hits, struck out two and walked two. Ben Henry came on in the fifth and got the win in relief. He went three innings, didn't give up a run, walked one and struck out six as he picked up his fourth win of the year without a loss.
The Crawdads and Shorebirds go back at it again tonight at 5:05 pm. Hickory wraps up the road trip MOnday night before returning home to begin a seven-game home stand with the Greensboro Grasshoppers Wednesday night.
