Leslie McDonald, who proved to be quite an asset for the Tar Heels coming off the bench last season, could possibly miss the entire upcoming season with a knee injury.

McDonald, a rising junior from Memphis, TN., torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Thursday night playing in a summer league game in Durham. Surgery has not been scheduled at this time. McDonald averaged seven-points-a-game coming off the bench last season.
He was also second on the team with 51 three-pointers. McDonald, who scored in double figures ten times last season, poured in a career-high 17 points against Long Beach State.
"I just hate this for Leslie and his family," says head coach Roy Williams."He's worked so hard this off-season and he told me he was really playing well. We'll certainly support him as he works to get back on the floor, but we will miss his play on both ends of the court."
McDonald made 38% of his three-point attempts (51-134) last season. The Tar Heels return all five starters from a team that reached the NCAA tournament’s Elite Eight last season.
