Juniors Advance To District Finals PDF Print

The Watauga Juniors bounced back from Thursday disappointing loss and crushed Morganton Friday night.

The Junior, led by coach Bill Dicus, blasted Morganton 20-3 in five innings at Optomist Park eliminating Morganton from the tournament. The win moves Watauga into Saturday's District 7 championship game against Wilkes. Watauga must beat Wilkes twice to win the title. Saturday's game begins at 1 pm.
Dakota McCrary and Matt Lambert did most of the damage. Thsoe two combined for two home runs, two doubles and eight runs-batted-in. Hunter Isaacs had two doubles, scored three times and drove in a run; Jacob Soule had two RBI and Adam Greene came off the bench, homered and and drove in two runs.
Matt Tyndall, who only went two innings, got the win. He gave up one hit and struck out four. Tyndall and four other pitchers (Greene, Ian Watts, Lambert and Walker Stutts) combined on a two-hitter.
In the 11-12-year old division today, Wilkes American entertains Morganton at Memorial Park in Wilkesboro in an elimination game. The winner plays Watauga in the District 7 championship game at Monday night a site to be determined.
