McAdoo Denied By Superior Judge PDF Print

Durham County Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson had denied a petition by defensive end Michael McAdoo to compel the University of North Carolina to reinstate him to the school's football team.

McAdoo was declared permanently ineligible by the NCAA for academic misconduct. The senior was one of seven players forced to sit out all of last season amid an NCAA investigation into improper benefits and academic misconduct. UNC had sought to have McAdoo's elibility restored. The school felt the penalty was too harsh, but in the end UNC lost its appeal.
As an NCAA member institution, UNC has no choice but to respect the NCAA’s decision concering this matter. The school has offered McAdoo an opportunity to continue his education as a scholarship student and to serve as a student coach this season. The Tar Heels open the 2011 campaign at home against James Madison on September 3...Offensive lineman Josh Jenkins of West Virginia will miss the entire 2011 season with a knee injury. Jenkins, who has 24 career starts for the Mountaineers, injuried his left knee during the spring game April 29. He had surgery July 5. Jenkins missed two games last season when he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.....Auburn is still being investigated by the NCAA concerning the football program's recruitment of quarterback Cam Newton. Newton was selected by the Carolina Panthers with the No.1 overall pick in the National Football League Draft in April. He led Auburn to the FBS National Championship last season.....Texas Arlington has announced it will join the Western Athletic Conference in 2012-13. The WAC hopes to rebuild itself after the conference lost the likes of Nevada, Hawaii, Boise State and Fresno State. UTA was a founding member of the Southland Conference (its current home) in 1963, and competes in 14 sports, including basketball and baseball. UTA does not have a football team. The school dropped football following the 1985 season, but there is talk of possibly resurrecting the program.
