Former Appalachian State University assistant coach Kerry Keating, currently the head coach at Santa Clara, has received a contract extention through the 2014-15 season.

Athletics Director Dan Coonan made the announcement on Thursday. Keating led the Broncos, members of the West Coast Conference, to 24 wins last season---the second most wins in school history. He is 66-68 during his four-year stay with the program.
Keating spent three years as an assistant coach under Buzz Peterson at ASU from 1998-2000. He also joined Peterson at Tulsa, which won the NIT title in 2001, and at Tennessee(2001-03). Keating was an assistant coach at UCLA (2003-07) before he was named the head coach at Santa Clara in 2007.
In 2005, tapped Keating as one of the country's Top 25 collegiate recruiters, and in 2004, he was featured in a USA Today article about the rigors of college basketball recruiting. He was named one of the Top 10 assistant coaches in the nation by Athlon Sports College Basketball Preseason Magazine in 2003-04; and he during his stay at UCLA, Keating successfully recruited Kevin Love, the No.1 player in the country in 2007.
Keating began his coaching career at Seton Hall under then head coach P.J.Carlesimo in 1990-91 as student assistant coach and video coordinator (1990-93). He worked for Dave Odom as an administrative assistant at Wake Forest in 1993-94. He worked with Peterson as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt in 1994-95.
