Governor Bev Perdue made a couple of quick stops in Boone Thursday afternoon, one to see first-hand the entry to the Solar Decathlon, the international energy efficiency competition set for late September on the National Mall in D.C.  Perdue met with the ASU students and faculty designing and building the entry and heard of locally grown innovation

that will hopefully take the ASU entry to the top.  And the innovation was what impressed the governor the most, “It’s pretty clear—brains are always grown in North Carolina, but good ideas and innovation does great things in North Carolina.  This is innovation and entrepreneurship at its best, and a group of young folks decided to do it backed by private companies—the public private partnership—there’s a ‘wow’ factor here, too” Perdue said she hopes to be at the National Mall October 1st celebrating with ASU in their Decathlon win.  She also stopped at the Paul Broyhill wellness center in her hour or so in Boone.
