Johnny Dawkins, an All-America at Duke and a long-time assistant coach with the Blue Devils, has been  rewarded with a two-year extention at Stanford.

Athletics Director Bob Bowlsby made the announcement on Wednesday. Dawkins is 49-48 during his three-year stay with the Cardinal, which includes a 15-16 mark last season. The extention runs through the 2015-16 season. Dawkins played for a national championship and won it all as an assistant coach at Duke.

The University of Alabama and  Virginia Tech have announced that the schools will face each other in college football's opener in the late summer of 2013.
The teams will play each other in the Chick-Fill-A Kick-Off Classic at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
It will be the second time the Crimson Tide and Hokies have played in the Georgia Dome. Alabama beat Virginia Tech 34-24 in 2009 season opener. Boise State and Georgia will match up in this season’s opener at the Georgia Dome on Sept. 3. In 2012, two games are scheduled for the opening weekend of the season in Atlanta, with Auburn slated to play Clemson and North Carolina State set to face Tennessee.
