Lorenzo Charles, who hit the game-winning shot in North Carolina State's national-championship season in 1983, died Monday afternoon. Charles was driving a bus, according to the Associated Press, when he died in a one-vehicle accident in Raleigh. There were no other injuries reported. Charles was 47-years-old. General Manager Brad Jackson of Elite Coach, the transportation company Charles was driving for, said the accident occurred on Interstate 40.  Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said, "the bus driver was killed and there were no passengers aboard," according to police reports.
Charles was taken by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the NBA draft in June of 1985. But he finished his pro career in Europe.
