It took a while, but it was worth the wait.

The Watauga American Legion B Team picked up its first win of the season Friday night in Gamewell, NC. The B Team split a double-header with West Caldwell, losing the opener 6-3, but winning the night-cap, 5-2.
Matt Lambert highlighted the win in game two with a two-run blast in the second inning that game Watauga (1-5) a 2-0 lead. Carson Isaacs, who reached on an error, was on base when Lambert homered. Lambert was 2-3 in the game with three RBI.
"That's the first time I've ever had a kid hit a home run since I started coaching JV or summer ball here at Watauga," said coach Dustin Kerley. "But the kids played well. I thought the effort was there, even though we lost the first game."
Matt Tyndall got the win. He went the distance and gave up two earned runs. Offensively, Hunter Isaacs had four hits in the twinbill with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Adam Gilliam had three hits in the two games combined, including a three-run double in game one.
The B Team will play its home opener Saturday night against Hibriten at Pioneer Field. The game time has been changed from a 2 pm start to a 6 pm start because of the Will Dicus Memorial Tournament. The Watauga A Team (3-1) travels to Maiden Saturday night for a 5 pm double-header.
