![]() Lenoir-Rhyne University's Chandler Rearden has been named to the 2011 Sporting News NCAA Division II All-American Football Team. Rearden, a senior offensive lineman from Greenwood, S.C., was named an All-American by five different publications last year: Daktronics, The Associated Press, D2Football.com, the American Football Coaches Association and Don Hansen.Last season, Rearden became the first-ever player for Lenoir-Rhyne to win the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. The trophy is given annually to the top offensive lineman in the South Atlantic Conference. Rearden is also a two-time First-Team All-SAC honoree (2008 and 2010) and was named to the All-Southeast Region First Team last year after helping the Bears lead NCAA Division II in rushing (319.5 ypg) en route to the team's first winning season in 16 years. In 2010, the Lenoir-Rhyne finished with a 7-4 record and tied for third in the South Atlantic Conference with a 4-3 mark. L-R opens the 2011 season on Saturday, September 3, when it travels to Athens, W.Va., to take on Concord beginning at 7 p.m. Lenoir-Rhyne's first home game takes place on Saturday, September 17, against South Atlantic Conference-rival Carson-Newman at 7 p.m.
