The Hickory Crawdads two-hit the Lexington Legends en route to the 8-1 win before 6,711 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington on Saturday evening.

The Legends (29-33) got off to a good start as Delino DeShields, Jr. led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run for a 1-0 lead.
But winning pitcher Luke Jackson (1-0) settled down and only surrendered one more hit during his five-inning start, while striking out six.  Joe Van Meter and Nick McBride came out of the bullpen and kept the Legends in check as each man logged two scoreless innings apiece.
Meanwhile, the Crawdads (34-27) jumped on top for good with a two-out rally in the top of the third against losing pitche Tanner Bushue (6-2).  With two away, Teodoro Martinez walked to keep the inning alive.  Jurickson Profar hammered an RBI double into right field and went to third on a late throw to that plate.  Jake Skole and Alejandro Selen both followed with run-producing singles, putting the 'Dads on top, 3-1..
Hickory blew the game open with four more runs in the top of the fifth inning.  Juan Minaya walked the first three batters he faced to start the inning, Gabriel Garcia came on in relief and uncorked a wild pitch that scored a run, making it 4-1.  Garcia settled down and got the next two men, but he walked Kelin Deglan loading the bases. Jonathan Roof made Garcia pay for that mistake by smashing a three-run double off the left-field wall, giving the Crawdads a commanding 7-1 lead.
The 'Dads added one more run in the seventh on an RBI single by Deglan.
NOTES: The Crawdads kick off their series in Asheville on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
The 'Dads return home on Thursday, June 16 against the Charleston RiverDogs.  It will be Thirsty Thursday, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings with $1 can beers and Pepsis!  Also, don't miss the post-game concert by Norva Jean Dreams!  First pitch is at 7 p.m., gates open at 6 p.m.
