Appalachian State University women’s tennis player Jennifer Ansari (Greens boro, N.C./Walter Hines Page) kept with her off-season training as the tennis standout won the North Carolina closed women’s tennis singles title.

Ansari had a bye in the first round of competition, and then went on to face a tough competitor in Masey Demoss in second round action. After dropping the first set 5-7, Ansari cruised to 6-0 and 6-2 set wins to advance to the next and final round.
In the championship match, Ansari handily defeated Natsuko Takayanagi 6-1, 6-3 to win the title.
For her championship victory, Ansari was rewarded with $1000 dollars, which she donated to charity.
