The Hickory Crawdads fell to the Charleston RiverDogs, 6-3, before 2,552 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Friday night.

The RiverDogs (21-27) got on the board quickly against  Cody Buckel, as Kyle Roller belted a two-run homer in the top of the first to put Charleston ahead, 2-0.  Buckel, however, did not allow another tally through the rest of his four-inning outing, giving the 'Dads a chance to come back.
Hickory (26-21) started the comeback in the bottom of the second against winning pitcher Jose Ramirez.  With two outs and the bases empty, Alejandro Selen kept the inning going with a double.  And he came around to score an RBI single by Jonathan Roof, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
The 'Dads kept swinging away, completing the comeback with a pair of solo home runs in the third and fifth innings to take their first lead of the game. Teodoro Martinez tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the third; Jurickson Profar gave the 'Dads a 3-2 lead with his solo shott in the fifth.
Ben Rowen, who suffered the loss, came on in relief in the fifth, and he retired the first eight men he faced.  But Charleston finally broke through with a two-run rallyin the top of the seventh. Ramon Flores kept the inning alive with a single and he moved to third on a base hit by Kelvin De Leon.  Josh Richmond tried to throw Flores out at third, but overthrew the base and the error enabled Flores to score on the play. De Leon ended up at third on that throwing error. Francisco Arcia followed with an RBI single to score De Leon and put the RiverDogs up, 4-3.
The RiverDogs added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth.  Slade Heathcott led off with a triple and quickly came home on a fielding error by Profar. Anderson Feliz advanced to second on the error.  Feliz then stole third base and he scored on an RBI single by Roller for a 6-3 lead.  Kelvin Perez picked up his third save of the season tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
