The Hickory Crawdads notched their third shutout win of the season with a 3-0 win against the Charleston RiverDogs, before 1,441 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Wednesday night.Winning pitcher Matt Thompson was dominate from th start. He had six stirkeouts in the first three innings. and the Crawdads (25-20) finally gave him some support by getting on the board in the bottom of the third.
Kelling Deglan led off with a walk and moved to second when Jurickson Profar was hit by a pitch one out later. Tomas Telis singled to load the bases before Josh Richmond belted a two-run double to left field, plating two runsr. Andrew Clark reloaded the bases with a walk, and Christian Villanueva brought in Telis with a sacrifice fly to center field, gving the Crawdads a 3-0 lead.
Thompson finally left the the game with one out in the sixth. He finished with seven strikeouts before giving way to Joe Van Meter. Van Meter and Ryan Rodebaugh, who picked up his third save of the year, closed things out.
