The Ashe County High women's track team had four place finishers at the Class 2A state track meet on Saturday.

The Huskies, competing at North Carollina A&T University in Greensboro, had seven qualifiers in the field. They got a strong performance from senior Lizzie Hanes, who qualified in four events and placed in two of them. Hanes finished fourth in the 300-meter-high hurdles in 45.72 seconds, and she finished fifth in the 100-high hurdles (15.70).
Those were Ashe County's best performances of the day. Mariah Richardson finished seventh in the high jump with an effort of 5-feet, 2 inches; Lexi Greene finished eighth in the 100 hurdles (16.46). Team-wise, the Huskies were 21st with 11 points.
Carrboro won the women's title with 55 points; Berry Academy won the men's title with 113 points. Cummings was a distance second with 41.50 points.
