The Hickory Crawdads fell to the Augusta GreenJackets, 5-0, before 4,444 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Saturday night.
The GreenJackets (14-22) grabbed a 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the top of the third against losing pitcher Carlos Melo. A two-out single by Ehire Adrianza kept the inning alive. He moved to second base on a wild pitch, and he scored on Adam Duvall's RBI double. Drew Biery's run-scoring single brought home Duvall. Augusta made it a 5-0 game by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth. With runners at first and third and nobody out, Adrianza smacked an RBI single to center field making it 3-0 and chasing Melo from the mound. Nick Tepesch came on in relief, and following a fly ball out and a walk to load the bases, Ryan Scoma delivered a two-run double, giving the GreenJackets a five-run cushion. Augusta starter Seth Rosin, who picked up his first win of the year, put up seven scoreless innings; left-hander Gaspar Santiago closed things out with two scoreless innings of relief. NOTES: The 'Dads host the Augusta GreenJackets on Sunday at 5 p.m. for Bark at the Park! All fans are welcome to bring their dogs to the game!
