The Hickory Crawdads shut out the Savannah Sand Gnats, 1-0, in a 13-inning game before 2,126 fans at Historic Grayson Stadium on Thursday night.

The Crawdads got a great effort from Justin Grimm, who scattered six hits, walked one and struck out five through seven innings of work.  Grimm gave way to Ryan Rodebaugh, who logged four scoreless innings before he was lifted for Kevin Johnson with one on in the 12th inning.
After Johnson, who got the win in relief, kept the scoreless tie intact through the 12th. And the Crawdads eventually broke through with a run in the top of the 13th. against RHP Luis Rojas (L, 1-2). Jurickson Profar led off with a double to shallow right-center field. He moved to third on a Christian Villanueva fly ball to center field.  Andrew Clark was walked intentionally, however, losing pitcher Luis Rojas threw a wild pitch on ball four, allowing Profar to score from third.
Savannah loaded the bases in the bottom of the 13th, but Joe Van Meter, who picked up his second save, worked out of the jam.
NOTES: Hickory will return home to start a seven-game homestand on Friday, May 13 against the Augusta GreenJackets at 7 p.m.  Don't miss a special appearance by Breakin' BBoy McCoy as he entertains fans of all ages during the game!
