Watauga High baseball coach Pete Hardee has announced that the Pioneers first-round playoff game with Olympic is being moved to Thursday night because of inclement weather in the forecast for Friday.

Game time is set for 6 pm. Our coverage begins at 5:30 pm on Oldies 100.7 FM. The right-hander Jake Watts will get the starting nod. Watts is 7-3 with a 2.78 earned-run-average with a save. Watts, who pitched a four-hit shutout against St. Stephens in the opening round of the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference tournament last Wednesday, came on and pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief in Saturday's title game against South Caldwell.
Watts gave up an earned run on four hits and struck out four men. For the year, Watts has struck out 83 men in 55 2/3 innings of work. Thursday's match-up between the Pioneers and Olympic is the first meeting between the schools since 1999, and only the second time they've ever played each other.
