Fire Damages Porch on Residence PDF Print

Beaver Dam and Cove Creek volunteer firemen were dispatched to a house fire after a passing motorist spotted flames at a home on US 321 at about 8:45 last night.  As fire departments arrived at 6161 US 321 North, someone trying to pull a burning sofa off the front porch of the home suffered a burn to the hand and was treated by Watauga Medics. Firemen managed to knock down the fire that had spread from the sofa to the front porch structure in short, but there was damage to the porch and front stairway.  It appeared a cigarette tossed too close to the sofa might have lead to the fire.
