Damian Edwards has fulfilled his wish. He will be playing college basketball next season.

The Watauga High senior's wish came through on Friday, when he signed with Emory & Henry College, a Division III School in Emory, Va. The Wasps are members of the Old Dominian Athletic Conference. Edwards averaged 19 points-a-game last season, and helped the Pioneers to 17 wins and a No.1 seed among the Class 4A schools in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference.
He also set a new school record with 94 steals in a season. An impeccable shooter with outstanding range, Edwards joins a team that only won four games last year, including one in conference play.
"Damian is an outstanding athlete," said WHS coach Rob Sanders. "We're really going to miss him, but he's getting a chance to play at the next level and he deserves it. He's an outstanding player with great skills."
Edwards was named the NW3A/4A Conference Player of the Year last season, and he was also named to the District 11 All-Region Team. During his three-year stay with the varsity, Edwards and his teammates led WHS to 48 wins and an appearance in the sectional finals during his junior year. The Pioneers lost to West Charlotte in the finals. On Senior Night, he led the Pioneers to an emotional win against Hickory. WHS snapped Hickory's 21-game winning streak in league play and defeated Hickory for the first time since 1993.

Edwards had a stellar career with the Pioneers. Here's a list of his many accomplishments:
