|Clanton Signs With Alouettes|

Defensive end Erik Clanton of The Citadel has signed a professional contract to play football north of the border.Clanton, the Bulldogs only first-team All-Southern Conference selection in 2010, has signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. Clanton was second in the SoCon in 2010 with nine sacks and third with 14 tackles for loss. He finished with 62 tackles, one quarterback hurry, one fumble recovery and three forced fumbles.
Clanton also becomes the sixth player from the SoCon to play professional football. The SoCon had five players drafted on Saturday in the National Football League draft. Appalachian State had three players selected---linebacker D.J. Smith (selected by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round), safety Mark LeGree (selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round), and offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore (selected in the fifth round by the San Francisco 49ers).
The Bulldogs entertain ASU in Charleston, SC on October 15.
