Watauga High baseball coach Pete Hardee has made the call.
Tonight's baseball game between the Pioneers and St. Stephens in the opening round of the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference tournament is being moved to St. Stephens because of poor drainage at Pioneer Field. "I really don't want to move the game," Hardee said. "But I really don't have a choice. There's so much standing water on the field, that I couldn't get this thing ready to play by Friday. I don't want to hold the tournament up, so playing at St. Stephens is the only thing to do." The Pioneers will have Jake Watts on the mound. Watts is 6-3 with a 3.20 earned-run-average. He's 1-0 against the Indians this season. St. Stephens will counter with Jacob Hoyle, who will be making his first start of the year. Hoyle, the Indians' closer, is 1-0 with three saves. First pitch is set for 6 pm; our coverage begins at 5:30 pm on Oldies 100.7 FM.
