Ashe County senior Mallory Clay was named to the Winston-Salem Journal All-Northwest Women's Basketball Team, and to the NCPreps.com All-State team.

Clay, a four-year varsity starter, will attend Catawba College (a Division II school in Salisbury, NC and a member of the South Atlantic Conference) to continue her basketball career this fall. Clay, who has been named to the WSJ Northwest team for a second consecutive year, is also the third Huskies' player named to be named to that squad.
Kim McNeil was named to that team in 2007-08 and in 2008-09; Tommy Spagnolo (Radford University) was named in 2008-09. Clay averaged 16 points, six rebounds, four steals and three steals a game for the Huskies last season.
The Huskies (22-3) won the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference regular-season championship, but lost the tournament title to Wilkes Central. The Huskies made the Class 2A state playoffs, but lost to East Burke in the opening round.
