Gas prices gyrated again Tuesday—down a bit after a Monday spike in Wilkes, up a bit in the High Country. Our BP Barometer showed a one-cent increase during the day yesterday, now at $3.66.9, while some of the stations in Wilkes that showed increases as high as 20-cents a gallon Monday afternoon moderated prices a bit by yesterday afternoon.
The Bloomberg report from late yesterday said crude oil for May delivery plunged to $106.25 a barrel in New York yesterday, the lowest settlement since March 30, after Goldman Sachs Group Inc. forecast a “substantial” correction in prices of the fuel. The International Energy Agency and International Monetary Fund said oil prices above $100 a barrel are starting to hurt the global economy. |
