UPDATE; Early Morning Wreck on Bamboo Road PDF Print

The state patrol is investigating the crash of a pick-up on Bamboo Road early this morning.  The wreck occurred near the Deerfield intersection at about 2am, causing Watauga Medics and Boone Fire to respond to the scene.

22-year old William Scott Miller of Union Mills, NC, lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet pick-up traveling south on Bamboo, went across the center line and off the road to his left, struck a tree and the embankment and spun the vehicle, finally ending up in the ditch facing south.  Miller was taken to Watauga Medical Center for treatment of leg and a broken nose, and was cited for Driving While Impaired and Left of Center.  This and a number of other accidents are causing a stepped-up effort to enforce speed and other traffic laws in the Bamboo and Deerfield areas, according to the SHP.
