Boone Police, aided by Watauga deputies, searched for an armed man who frightened a woman at a dental practice late yesterday afternoon.  The woman saw the man close behind the Steven Airey Dental practice just before closing time, the man armed with a long rifle, apparently heading toward the medical complex on Furman Road, and she quickly called Boone police who quickly launched the search for the man.  He was described as a white male with medium-length brown hair, plaid shorts and a brown shirt.  His most distinguishing feature—large earrings.  Within 20 minutes or so of searching, it was found that the suspect lived in the apartments near-by, and investigators confronted the man, finding that he had been target practicing with a BB rifle behind the medical practice.  Boone Police cited the 19-year old with a discharging a weapon count.
