Gas prices up again—now with prices around the High Country around $3.60.9. There are still some $3.59.9 stations, but the trend is, once again, up. But gas prices in the foothills and piedmont rose a week ago, with $3.63.9 the dominant displayed price around Charlotte last weekend.
Most analysts have stopped blaming the Libyian conflict, and are looking at crude prices, with oil prices hovering just below $109 a barrel today in Asia amid concern rising fuel costs could undermine U.S. economic growth and demand for crude. Nationally, regular gas is averaging $3.69.9. Pro-Qaddafi forces attacked oil production in rebel-held areas yesterday and early today, trying to take out the funding for their revolution. Rebels say oil production can be quickly restored.
