Fire Damaged an Ashe County home yesterday morning, causing at least two departments to respond.  The 8am fire was at 147 Greensboro Heights Subdivision on Greensboro Road and off NC 16 North toward Shatley Springs. Residents reported smoke, and first arriving units from the New River Fire Department found the house on fire and called for back-up from other departments.  The scene was cleared by late morning, but Ashe Fire Marshal Bob Davis said that he had not yet determined the cause, but said damage was extensive to two bedrooms and a bath at the home.

The Wilkes Communications Center dispatched firefighters to a mobile home fire on Taylor Street in the Rock Creek community at 9:55 p.m. last night. Firefighters reported that the residence was engulfed when they arrived, but no other details were yet available on the severity of the fire. The Knotville and Roaring River fire departments were dispatched to the Taylor Street fire.
