Appalachian State University Athletics is pleased to continue the Mighty Mountaineer Youth Football partnership for a second year in 2011.

“We are very exited to continue the partnership between ASU Athletics and youth football and cheerleading programs in the High Country, specifically with the Ashe, Avery, Watauga & Wilkes County Parks & Recreation Departments, as well as the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church EQUIP program,” said Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Licensing Samantha Stevens.

“Through the Mighty Mountaineers Youth Football program we will continue to build upon the rich history of youth football and cheerleading in the area, along with developing a lifelong love for Appalachian State Football.”

Mighty Mountaineers Youth Football was created to encourage the participation in youth football and cheerleading, while developing a relationship with Appalachian State Athletics and increasing the brand of the Mountaineers and the black and gold in the community.

The program will include a reversible black and gold jersey with the Appalachian Block A logo prominently featured on both sides of the jersey. (Each time a team shows up to play they will always be playing each other in black and gold.) Each child participating on 3, 4, 5 & 6 grade teams will get to keep their jersey at the end of the season. The cheerleading uniforms will also feature a black & gold uniform with the Block A.

Additional perks to the program include: helmet decals, string packs, discounts to ASU athletic events, coaches shirts, signage, special promotions for participants, and more.

The Mighty Mountaineer program is open to any team or program that is interested in participating.
