Senior Damian Edwards of Watauga High received another award on Wednesday afternoon when he was named to the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association All-District team.

Edwards, the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference Player of the Year, was a second-team selection in District 11. He is Watauga's first all-district player since Jeff Newell in 2009. Edwards averaged 19 points a game and set a single-season, school-record with 94 steals this past season.
Edwards is joined on the District 11 team by Kendall Jones of West Caldwell, the District 11 Player of the Year, who was also a first-team selection. Michael Burgess of Hibriten was named a second-team selection; Bryson Payne of Ashe County and Kawan Newkirk of Wilkes Central were third-team selections.
John Cannon of Mountain Heritage, who will play in the Carolinas Classic All-Star basketball game this weekend in Myrtle Beach, SC, was a first-team selection in District 12. Cannon is being recruited by a number of schools, including Appalachian State. He led the Cougars to 23 wins and the Class 2A Western Finals his senior year. Alex Biggerstaff of the Cougars was named to the second team.
Denzel Dillingham of Hickory, the Most Valuable Player in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference tournament, was named first team in District 10; teammate Trez Shuford was named to the third team. Harrison Bowne of St. Stephens was named to the second team.
